Mission
To oversee the affairs of the industrial sector and contribute to its development, advancement, protection, and growth; ensure the implementation of laws and regulations related to industrial affairs; and take the necessary measures to strengthen and develop the national industry.
Role of the Ministry of Industry
The Ministry of Industry, within the powers assigned to it under the applicable laws and regulations, is responsible for regulating the affairs of the industrial sector and supporting its development and growth, in coordination with the relevant ministries, administrations, institutions, and authorities, where required by law.
Regulating, coordinating, protecting, and developing national industries, and preparing and implementing the necessary plans to support the establishment of new industries and the development of existing industries in a manner that serves industrial development and the national economy.
Licensing the establishment of industrial enterprises, including enterprises established within industrial zones and cities, monitoring the continued fulfillment of licensing requirements, and overseeing quality in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
Proposing the establishment of industrial cities and zones, providing opinions on related projects and designs, and helping to create the conditions and provide the services that contribute to the development of national industry, increasing productivity, and reducing production costs.
Taking measures within the Ministry's powers to promote national industries, examining requests submitted by industrialists for customs protection and support, and submitting recommendations regarding such requests in accordance with legal procedures and in coordination with the competent authorities.
The Ministry also contributes to combating dumping and cases of export subsidies and other forms of assistance that may constitute dumping and cause harm to national industry, within the applicable legal mechanisms and in cooperation and coordination with the competent authorities.
Following up on industrial legislation matters and participating, in cooperation with the competent ministries and administrations, in the preparation of international agreements relating to industry or industrial production.
The Ministry also addresses matters related to national, regional, and international bodies concerned with industry and industrialists.
Coordinating with the competent authorities in organizing local industrial exhibitions, participating in international industrial exhibitions, encouraging the consumption of national industrial products, and enhancing opportunities for their distribution in domestic and international markets.
Contributing to raising the technical level of the Lebanese workforce and encouraging the provision of the technical skills required for the growth of the industrial sector, as well as providing input and coordinating with the authorities responsible for vocational and technical education regarding relevant plans and programs.
Preparing industrial statistics and collecting the information and data necessary to study employment opportunities in industrial projects in Lebanon and opportunities for distributing national industrial products in domestic and international markets.
Working and coordinating with the relevant ministries, institutions, and bodies in ways that contribute to the development of the industrial sector and strengthen its role in the national economy.
