The Ministry of Industry said that strict environmental conditions were imposed on the cement-company quarries in Kfarhazir and Bedbhoun and that any permits would be limited to rehabilitating areas already excavated, without opening new quarries. It said the companies submitted the required documents, committed to rehabilitation, reforestation and local community investments, and would remain subject to continuous environmental monitoring, with the Ministry of Environment able to stop work if commitments are breached. The Ministry added that the Government is seeking to balance environmental protection, public health and safety with production and employment, noting that the decisions of 9 April 2026 and 23 April 2026 set the conditions governing the rehabilitation works.
